Who says you can’t buy friends?

I was recently browsing the Google+ posts of the people I follow and came across this article. Astonishing!

I guess I could see it coming if I wasn’t in the trenches of Social Media, but where did it become so important for people to publicly “like” you business or you businesses page? I mean it’s a page for goodness sake! Furthermore, if people “liked” your business don’t you think they would patronize it? Your sales might increase because of your marketing but what purpose does it serve for people to “like” your page?

Are the days of sending a thank you letter gone? How about that extra 5 minutes you have to wait to get a supervisor to thank them for their service and the excellent job the customer service rep has done for your call? Or how exemplary their business has been? Please bring those days back!

What do you think?
