Title: Video Communications Research Project
This Video Communications Research Project functions as a prototype for a media classroom for the Boys’ Latin of Philadelphia Charter School. The project was completed for the course requirements for GRIT 541: Video Communications. This project demonstrates my ability to research and assess current deficiencies with media technology (with regards to digital audio, digital video capture, editing, and producing) as well as evaluate and design hardware/software systems used to capture, edit and print digital video.

Title: Independent Video Project
This is the second major video project I completed for GRIT 541: Video Communications. By making this video I learned about planning, shooting, and editing video segments. The subject of my video is my family. In addition to learning Final Cut Pro, I learned the three stages of making a video (pre-production, production, and post-production). Through this process I am knowledgeable about the overall video process and feel confident in help my faculty make videos for future professional development sessions or help teachers make alternative assignments with their students.
The above movie serves as an instructional video for students to learn (or review) the concept of keyboard ergonomics.
The podcast is the second project linked above. I learned to edit the sound of files and make podcast’s in GRIT 654: Cognition and Accessible Technologies. Moreover, the audio editing application I learned, Audacity, has proven to be useful for the future. For example, I am now able to help students and teachers make podcasts as well as narrate instructional videos for my colleagues for ongoing professional development.
Title: Educational Technology Plan for Boys’ Latin of Philadelphia Charter School
This Educational Technology Plan serves as an update to the plan that the Boys’ Latin of Philadelphia Charter School currently follows. It was completed for the course requirements for GRIT 685: Technology Planning. This plan demonstrates my ability to create, analyze, and modify an existing technology plan for the needs of students and teachers in this urban environment. It also demonstrates my knowledge in the areas of technology planning including needs assessments, goals, strategies, staff development, monitoring, evaluation and long-term planning. Title: Boys’ Latin Acceptable Use Policy
I included this document to show the updated acceptable use policy that a team at Boys’ Latin recently created. The team consisted of the system administrators, the principal, the CEO, a technology consultant, and myself. I learned about the importance of a districts’ acceptable use policy in GRIT 687: Technology and the Administrator. This policy demonstrates my ability to work within a team to accomplish a school wide technology goal and to use my experience to promote the efficient use of technology as an aid and not a hindrance.
